Housing: Baker Village
The BDAA 2007 Convention will be housed at Luther's Baker Village, a community of townhouses that adjoins the Luther campus. Each townhouse unit (total of 4-6 people in each unit) has single bedrooms on two levels. Each townhouse has a full kitchen (stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, sink; cookware and tableware are not provided), living room, two bathrooms (each with toilet and sink) and two showers (1 bathroom/shower per level). Towels, bedding, soap and toilet paper are provided. Housekeeping service will be provided twice during the week. Baker Village is air conditioned. For a map of the Luther campus, click here.

Shirley Baker Commons adjoins the townhouses (this is the site of nightly jam sessions, mini-concerts, open mic night, and zakuski night). Baker Commons also will be the site of conference registration and the bulletin board for BDAA messages and schedules.

In the event that Baker Village should fill to capacity, we will house BDAA participants in the air conditioned College Apartments (one large sleeping room, living room, and bathroom/shower). College Apartments also adjoin the Luther Campus, and are directly across Anderson Prairie from Baker Village (approximately 1 1/2 blocks from Baker Village).
Shuttle service to workshops and town
Baker Village adjoins the Luther campus, and it is a brief walk to the cafeteria, cafes, workshops, concerts or rehearsals on campus. We also will offer a shuttle service (golf carts and/or vans) between Baker Village and campus-- and can assist with transporting large instruments. We will post a schedule of departure times in Shirley Baker Commons. All shuttles will depart from Baker Commons; shuttles will not be offered after the supper hour.

Luther College is a convenient walk from downtown Decorah. For evening meals, we also will offer a shuttle service (vans) to downtown Decorah. We will post a schedule of departure times in Baker Commons.
Meal Plan
At the 2006 BDAA General Meeting in Akron, some of you stated that you would prefer an on-campus meal plan. Participation in a meal plan is optional. We will be able to offer the option of a meal plan for LUNCH in the cafeteria. If you wish to sign up for a meal plan, you need to specify this preference when you register for housing.
The Luther College cafeteria offers a wide variety of choices, with unlimited "seconds." The College also has other dining choices on campus: Oneota Marketplace and Marty's Cybercafe. These venues offer a wide variety of sandwiches, pizza, salads, burgers, desserts, beverages, and coffees.
Registration for Conference Housing and Meal Plan:
Full information about housing, meal plan, costs and a housing registration form is now posted on this web site (see "Registration" on this web site).
When you register for housing/meal plan, you will need to:
1) Specify if you have preferences for other occupants in a townhouse. Each townhouse has 4-6 single bedrooms. We will make every effort to honor your housing requests; however, this cannot be guaranteed. Housing requests will be processed in the order received (i.e., "first come, first served"). Payment for housing/meal plan must accompany the registration form (checks or credit cards are accepted). If you would like to reserve an entire townhouse for a group of people, encourage every person in the group to submit the housing form/payment as early as possible.
2) Specify if you would prefer a bedroom on the first floor of a townhouse (second floor rooms require climbing stairs). Most townhouses have two bedrooms on the first floor.
3) List your preference of a meal plan (and include payment).
4) Luther College can accommodate your arrival/housing on Saturday, July 7th, between 1:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Scheduled conference activities begin on Sunday afternoon.
